| Summary: | Part of a series of documents submitted by the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC) to the Energy Review announced by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in January 2006. This submission presents the SDC’s vision of a sustainable energy system, and summarises our recommendations for Government policy. |
![]() | The report lacks a tabular presentation of future energy budgets showing expected energy requirements, politically realistic energy efficiency/reduction policies, realistic rates for implementing those policies, and resulting carbon emissions. Given the seriousness of global warming and the UK's inability to influence international opinion when our own emissions are rising, I feel that the SDC should be providing more balanced advice. In particular I have seen no evidence to suggest that emissions can be reduced sufficiently, either in this country or worldwide, without the massive use of nuclear energy |
![]() | Has helped a great deal with my law degree assignment - critical analysis of UK government's recent responses to climate change! |
![]() | A good document, I only hope the DTI takes notice of the recommendations. |
