The Scottish Sustainable Development Forum is a network of sustainable development experts and practitioners across Scotland. We organise debates and events to make sure our members are at the forefront of debate on sustainability.
Our strength is as a convening body, bringing together different groups and individuals to debate and discuss sustainable development. We are keen to strengthen our membership and the participation of the membership, so that we can better raise awareness of sustainable development, share good practice and encourage our members to recommend action that we can adopt and champion.
We organise debates, conferences and public events on sustainable development for our members, encouraging networking, highlighting good practice and publishing information on our website and in the media.
Recent conferences have highlighted issues around infrastructure and behaviour change, and in the pipeline are events focusing on sustainable transport, zero waste, and sustainable construction.
We publish a bi-monthly newsletter, featuring information about SSDF events, news from the Sustainable Development Commission and the Climate Challenge Fund Supporting Alliance, and a regular profile of one of our members.
The SSDF’s membership is growing. A current list of 500 people encompasses professionals from a wide range of businesses and organisations working within sustainable development, academics and representatives from Government departments and local authorities.
The SSDF is open to anyone with experience or interest in sustainability in Scotland. Email ssdf@sdc-scotland.org.uk to be registered on our mailing list and receive our regular newsletters and updates.
The Sustainable Development Commission Scotland hosts the secretariat for the SSDF, which was set up by the Scottish Government to raise awareness of sustainable development, foster debate and promote action.
