Who is on the Panel?

The panel is made up of over 500 members which will eventually rise to 1000. The panel has been individually selected to ensure a wide range of experience and skills from many sectors.

We have aimed for as broad a view of society as possible so that we can explore sustainable solutions from all angles. We have also tried to ensure a good geographical spread across the United Kingdom as well as a balance of gender and ethnicity.

How are Panel members chosen?

Recruitment to the panel takes place in waves, recruiting one industry at a time. Once we have analysed our targets for each industry we will research and contact invitees directly.

In addition, anyone is free to nominate individuals to the panel whether they be Commissioners, Secretariat, panel members or members of the public. Nominees will be invited to the panel if:

• they fit the necessary criteria laid out in our targets and guidelines
• their membership will not unbalance the panel make-up.

The final decision to invite someone to the panel will be the responsibility of the SDC engagement policy team. If a nominee is unsuccessful we will give our reasons for the decision.
