New Head of SDC Northern Ireland
The Sustainable Development Commission (SDC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Jim Kitchen to head up the strengthened SDC NI secretariat.
The Commission sees this move as a signal of its renewed determination to place sustainability high on Northern Ireland’s political agenda. As Head of WWF Northern Ireland, Jim has been a dedicated and persistent advocate of sustainable development, and has been extensively involved in promoting its wider acceptance amongst stakeholders in Northern Ireland.
In his new capacity, Jim will work closely with his staff, and NI Vice Chair John Gilliland, to build the SDC in Northern Ireland as a robust, trusted and influential partner for government and the public sector.
This means using the combination of advice/capacity building, advocacy and the scrutiny function wisely, in combination, and effectively to help create change. It also means demonstrating best practice in public engagement, and working with government to embed this approach.
