CCF learning programme roll out

14 October 2009

A programme of workshops and networking events across Scotland is being rolled out to communities who want to cut their carbon emissions. The events offer people a chance to come along and meet other community projects, and share experiences while developing the skills and knowledge to enhance their project.

The Climate Challenge Fund Learning Programme was launched very successfully with the CCF Gathering’09 at Stirling Management Centre at the beginning of September. The Gathering was attended by over a hundred people, with representation from more than fifty community projects, all benefitting from the workshops, talks and networking opportunity.

Bookings for the upcoming workshops in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness are high with the ‘Learning About Behaviour Change’ workshop being particularly popular. This workshop looks at what makes people take up more climate friendly behaviours, and how you keep them motivated to stick with these changes over the long-term.

Other workshops in the programme include: ‘Ideas to Action’ – designed to give additional support to groups wanting to develop community-led projects which will help cut greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen the local community. ‘Communicating Climate Change’ – making sure the projects have the skills to get more people involved in the work of cutting greenhouse gas emissions. ‘Community Participation’ – helping inject new energy and talent into a project by informing participants about the tools and techniques for encouraging genuine community involvement.

Feedback from those who have already attended a CCF learning event has been very positive. The opportunity to meet others with similar goals and ideas has proven as inspirational as the learning material itself!
